Malvern Prep sophomore defenseman Greg Pelton has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Duke University.
Greg Pelton
Pelton was a member of a Malvern Prep squad that placed second in the Inter-Ac League and made the finals of the Inter-Ac Invitational last season.
He was named as the No. 7 Young Gun in this fall’s Inside Lacrosse Rising Sophomore list. He also was the first defenseman mentioned.
Pelton also plays for the Man-Up Lacrosse team.
He said he also considered Notre Dame, Princeton and Penn State.
Pelton is the second Man-Up player from the Class of 2014 to commit to a Division I college and the first to make his decision public. No Philly sophomore had ever committed to a Division I program.
Pelton’s commitment to coach John Danowski’s Blue Devils follows a recent trend of sophomore commits around the country. Already, Inside Lacrosse has reported that 30 sophomores have committed to Division I programs. Duke also has received a commitment from defenseman Jack Harrington of Greenwich (CT).
